Adjectives को हिंदी में “विशेषण” कहते हैं और इसके कई Types होते हैं. इसके अन्य प्रकारों में से एक Comparative Adjectives भी है, जिसे आज हम अपने इस Post में Details में पढेंगें.
दोस्तों Adjective को हिंदी भाषा में “विशेषण” कहते हैं. वे शब्द जो Noun अथवा Pronoun की विशेषता को बतलाते हैं , उन्हें Adjective (विशेषण) कहते हैं. Adjectives कई Types के होते हैं , लेकिन आज हम लोग Comparative Adjectives के बारे में पढेंगें.
Comparative adjectives:-
Comparative शब्द को पढ़ने मात्र से पता चल जाता है कि यह कंही न कहीं Comparision की तरफ इशारा करता है. Comparision अर्थात “तुलना”. जब हम दो चीजों के बीच किसी तरह की तुलना करते हैं तो उसे English में Comparision कहते हैं. जैसे –
- ऐश्वर्या काजोल से ज्यादा खूबसूरत है. – Aishwarya is more beautiful than Kajol.
अब यंहा पर ऐश्वर्या और काजोल दोनों ही खूबसूरत हैं , लेकिन ऐश्वर्या ज्यादा खूबसूरत है. दोनों के बीच खूबसूरती को लेकर Comparision है, और खूबसूरत होना दोनों की Adjectives (विशेषता) भी है. इसलिए यंहा पर “more beautiful” एक Comparative Adjectives है.
What are comparative adjectives?
It is used to compare between two things or people in English grammar. Like Mahesh is stronger than Rahul.

Comparative Adjectives का प्रयोग , Nouns के बीच किसी प्रकार की Quality को आधार बनाकर , Compare करने के लिए किया जाता है. e.g.- Bigger, Better, Larger, Smaller, More Wonderful, etc.
Or
Comparative Adjectives are a type of adjectives used in English to compare differences between two people, places, things or ideas.
Examples:-
| This book is more expensive than that book. | यह किताब उस किताब से महंगी है. |
| I am taller than my sister. | मैं मेरी बहन से लम्बा हूँ. |
| China is larger than Nepal. | चीन नेपाल से बड़ा है. |
| His English is better than mine. | उसकी English मुझसे बेहतर है. |
| My house is larger than hers. | मेरा घर उससे बड़ा है. |
| Your dog runs faster than Rahul’s dog. | आपका कुत्ता राहुल के कुत्ते से तेज़ दौड़ता है. |
Formation of Comparative Adjectives:-
Comparative Adjectives को बनाने के लिए अक्सर adjectives के अंत में “er” को add कर दिया जाता है. जैसे –
- Big – Bigger
- Small – Smaller
- Tall – Taller
यदि Adjective के End में “e” है तो “r” को भी add करके Comparative Adjectives बनाया जाता है. जैसे –
- Safe – Safer
- Nice – Nicer
यदि adjective के end में “y” है तो “y” को change करके “i” और अंत में “er” को add कर दिया जाता है. जैसे –
- Noisy – Noisier
- Easy – Easier
कुछ Words के पहले “more” को add करना. जैसे –
- Beautiful – More Beautifull
- Important – More Important
- Expensive – More Expensive
Irregular Adjectives ( कोई नियम नहीं )
- Good – Better
- Bad – Worse
- Much – More
