Difference between have, has & had.

The English language is too easy to read, writing & speaking.  But we have to understand some basic concepts like basic grammar, basic vocabulary, etc. Friends today’s post is too interesting, after reading this post you can clear your confusion about the uses of Have, Has & Had. In this post, I will explain to you, how we can use these words in English writing & speaking. So without delay of time, we directly come to the point.

Uses of “Have”:-

In positive sentences:

Have is a possession word. Possession का अर्थ होता है – क्या आपके पास है और क्या आपके पास नहीं है. अर्थात जब आपको यह बताना होगा की आपके पास क्या है और क्या नहीं है तब आप इस शब्द का प्रयोग कर सकते हैं .

आपके पास या उनके पास या किसी के पास “कुछ है” अथवा “कुछ नहीं है” यह बताने के लिए Have का प्रयोग करते हैं .

It is used in the perfect tense  & it is used with I, We, You, They & Plural Nouns. जब नाउन  I, We, You, They अथवा Plural हो तब हम Have का प्रयोग करते हैं . e.g.

  • I have ….
  • We have….
  • You have….
  • They have….

“Have” is a verb and a possession word. It is used to express something which you have or that you don’t. e.g.

  • I have many pens.
  • I have a car.
  • We have tickets for the movie show.
  • They have drinking bottles.
  • I have many textbooks.
  • We have a playground in our colony.
  • They have no bulletproof jackets.
  • My all brothers have bikes.
  • All students have their own laptops.
  • I have sent you an email.
Uses of Have in negative sentences:

In negative sentences, we can use the “Not” word after “have”. we can write it like “haven’t”.  e.g.

  • I haven’t a car.
  • I haven’t seen you for a long time.
  • They haven’t seen you for a long time.
  • You haven’t seen me for a long time.
  • We haven’t seen the Pathan movie yet.

Uses of  “Has”:

Have की तरह Has भी helping verb है.  इसका प्रयोग भी positive sentence में possessions को express करने के लिए किया जाता है , लेकिन थोड़े से नियम अलग हैं . Has का प्रयोग  He, She, It and Singular Noun के साथ किया जाता है . कभी – कभी Who के साथ भी Has का प्रयोग किया जाता है .

Has is used in positive sentences when the noun is He, She, It, or in Singular form. e.g.

  • She has a car.
  • She has graduated.
  • Yesterday he has sent an email.
  • It has a big issue.
  • He has a bad headache, he can not come to the office.
  • She has to go to the party tonight.
  • She has touched my heart.
  • Rahul has a bike and a car.
  • Santosh has become a good cook.
Uses of “Has” in negative sentences:

Like have we can use has in a negative sentence. e.g.

  • She hasn’t come today.
  • It hasn’t your asset.
  • He hasn’t any house to date.
  • She hasn’t given me her mobile number.
  • He hasn’t cooked.
Uses of “Has” in interrogative sentences:

Interrogative sentence अर्थात प्रश्न पूछे जाने वाले वाक्य. ऐसे sentence में Has का प्रयोग पहले किया जाता है . e.g.

  • Has she made a cook?
  • Has he come today?
  • Has it is yours?
  • Has he come to Mumbai today?
  • Has she come to Mumbai today?

Use of Had:

Friends Had word is a very common word, which is used in the past tense instead of Have & Has. It is used with I, He, She, It, You, We, They, Singular & Plural nouns.

जिस तरह Have and Has का प्रयोग Presenet Perfect Tense में करते हैं , उसी प्रकार Had का प्रयोग Past Tense के लिए किया जाता है . यह Singular & Plural दोनों के साथ प्रयोग किया जाता है . e.g.

  • They had many cows.
  • She had many cars.
  • He had a Royal Enfield bike.
  • She had told him to come home early.
  • She had a very beautiful doll.
  • They had often seen in this mall.

  • Have & Has are root verbs.
  • Have is used with I, You, We, They & Plural Nouns.
  • Plural nouns mean-  noun is more than one. like Students, Boys, etc.
  • Has is used with He, She, It, & Singular Nouns.
  • Singular nouns mean – Single Nouns. Like Ram, Sita, Shyam, Rita, Geeta, etc.
  • In the negative sentence – Always use have with “Doesn’t”. Like
