Period or Full Stop (.):-
दोस्तों हमने कई बार पाठ्यपुस्तकों में वाक्यों में या पैराग्राफों में देखा है कि जब कोई वाक्य पूरा होता है तो उसके अंत में एक बिंदु लगा दिया जाता है. इसी बिंदु को English में Period अथवा Full Stop कहते हैं . इससे यह ज्ञात होता है कि – वाक्य अब पूर्ण हो चूका है.
Friends we had seen many times in sentences or in paragraphs in textbooks, while a sentence is completed then placed one dot at the end. This point is called Period or Full Stop in English. From this, it is known that – the sentence is now complete.
Why Full Stop?
The full stop is an indication that the sentence is completed. And after a full stop new sentence will start.
Full Stop or Period (.) की मदद से हमे यह ज्ञात हो जाता है की वाक्य अब पूर्ण हो चूका है . इसलिए वाक्य के पूर्ण होने का संकेत देने के लिए Full Stop का लगाना जरुरी होता है .
Let’s see an example :
- Janvi was going to market. She met her old friend there. Both enter a hotel and drink orange juice.
- The train is too late today. I hope they will come in the evening.
Where use Period (.):
किसी भी Sentence में Full Stop या Period का प्रयोग बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण होता है. यह एक छोटा बिंदु होता है जो कि Declarative or Imperative वाक्य के अंत में रखा जाता है। इसका प्रयोग Abbreviations (संक्षेप रूप ) में भी किया जाता है।
In any sentence, the use of a full stop or Period is very important. It’s a small dot that is placed at the end of a declarative or imperative sentence. It’s also used in abbreviations.
Uses of Full Stop in Imperative or Declarative Sentence :
Full Stop का प्रयोग Imperative or Declarative Sentence के end में किया जाता है. याद रहे किसी भी Iterogative & Explamative Sentence में full Stop (.) का प्रयोग कभी भी नहीं होता है।
Full Stop is used at the end of Imperative or Declarative sentences. Remember that full stop is never used in any Interrogative & Explanatory Sentence. e.g.
- The Sun is shining today.
- I believe that she will come before the end of the day.
- Clean your room.
- Please pass the salt.
- Please stop talking like this. listen to me.

Abbreviations का मतलब होता है किसी शब्द या वाक्य का संक्षिप्त रूप. किसी वाक्य या शब्द को पूर्ण न लिखकर उसका संक्षिप्त रूप लिख देना ही Abbreviation कहलाता है .
Abbreviations mean a short form of a word. An abbreviation is the short form of a sentence or word without writing it completely.
- M.A = Master of Arts
- B.com = Bachelor of Commerce
- e.g = Example
- etc. = Et cetera
- A.S.A.P = As soon as possible
- Mr. = Mister
- Dr. = Doctor
- M.Phil = Master of Philosophy
Final Conclusions:-
- Full Stop को ही Period Marks कहते हैं .
- Full Stop or Period का प्रयोग वाक्य के अंत में किया जाता है. वाक्य Declarative or Imperative होने चाहिए .
- यदि वाक्य प्रश्नवाचक ( interrogative ) है तो Full Stop का प्रयोग नहीं होता है.
- यदि वाक्य विस्मयादि बोधक (exclamation) है तब भी Full Stop का प्रयोग नहीं होता है.
- Full Stop का प्रयोग Abbreviations बनाने के लिए भी किया जाता है .
